  1. Forum Up Date

R.I.P. The DMP forum. I hope this doesnt result in a whole lotta "How do you make this sound!?" & "Listen to my music here!" on the socials. Will all the juicy nuggets of information be preserved somewhere or will it all vanish?
  2. Minimal Techno

I have man eyes! Where is it @Alex? I can't see it in any of the area's. Edit: Its showing now.
  3. Christmas Wishlist

A pair of Genelec 8050's are on my list but if money was no object I wouldnt mind this: https://www.musicradar.com/news/this-legendary-led-zeppelin-recording-console-is-up-for-sale-but-you-probably-cant-afford-it And something from this guy: http://www.morelmuziek.nl
  4. Look what happens when you use Search > http://www.dancemusicproduction.info/index.php?/search/&q=sonarworks&item=7460&sortby=newest
  5. Good multiband compressor for mastering

A quick Google search shows that both have a free trial offer, so you could always try them and make your own assessment. Personally I would go for the Flux.
  6. Reveal Sound - Spire (underrated synth imo) and Future Progressive UK Bass Trance!
  7. Just waiting on a conformation from Rick as to what date we are going to record it.
  8. Yay! To make it even more appealing we could incorporate it with Techno 2 or 3!
  9. You don't ask you don't get.
  10. I'm sure they wouldn't mind but that's not Tweakem's goal.
  11. If your going there lets add Reaktor6 to that. I think someone else mentioned it but now 2.5 is out how about Omnisphere?
  12. You seem to be twisting yourself up and other peoples points. This is a discussion board and people are always going to have their own opinions. "The genre uses saw waves, sidechaining etc. If you take those elements away is it Trance? If you want to create your own genre then what is the point in watching genre tutorials?" Do you think Trance is the only genre that uses such techniques and no one has told you to "create your own genre" and that seems to be the crux of your responses. Simply find your own groove. As Rick has responded to this I wont labour this point. "somebody wanted to know what compressors/reverb/eq other people use in their Beatport tracks etc, which I would also like to know. There is nothing saying you have to stick with that sound once you understand it... but to tell us that we aren't allowed to learn it because its not innovative makes a mockery of the existence of a tutorial company that is teaching how to make 'dance music'." You have completely changed what I wrote! Im merely an admin here and I certainly dont tell people what they can and cant learn. I wrote: "I (personally) dont see what value that would add to my work flow. Im not bothered what compressor someone else uses on a drum bus (because its usually the outboard version of Distressor/Fatso or running through a SSL desk then mastered really well). Should we not be making our own paths with the tools we have available rather than expecting that buying X compressor or Y eq will suddenly improve our ears/musically theory/output?" which I then responded to yourself with: "Im going all Devils Advocate now: If I told you that Armin uses Logic stock plugins (as seen in more up to recent videos) then its not the equipment its the user. Conversely if you found out that (for example) he uses Waves C1 and you buy it too, do you think it will automatically make your tracks sound like his? 90% of the way, yeah? I clearly pointed out I was playing Devils Advocate for the sake of discussion and not telling people what they can or cant learn. I am fascinated by people who want to know what eq/compressor/DAW other producers use as if thats whats missing and if they buy the same thing they will get the same sound. That is why I asked a question and certainly didnt make a statement.
  13. Is the science then not the use of, say for example, how wide a Q is on a fixed EQ? Where as the art is the resulting sound? Hence the "cant separate the two"?
  14. A lot has changed in the world of music production in the last 10 years! Im going all Devils Advocate now: If I told you that Armin uses Logic stock plugins (as seen in more up to recent videos) then its not the equipment its the user. Conversely if you found out that (for example) he uses Waves C1 and you buy it too, do you think it will automatically make your tracks sound like his? 90% of the way, yeah? "I would hazard a guess that most people watching tutorials want to know the general tricks of the trade and not just be told to be innovative." The tricks of the trade are not solved by buying the same piece of equipment as someone else. Its through learning your trade & training your ears. There are no shortcuts. Im not implying "innovate" Im suggesting making do with what you got. Yeah I know, Gear Lust is a real illness. Writing a track is only part of the process. Mastering would put a well made track in the same ballpark as other pro tracks. No DJ has EVER decided not to play a great track because it uses a stock compressor from a DAW. I am guessing that you havent watched the Compressor & EQ tutorials?
